when boring things happen to awesome artists

The new video for Nicole Scherzinger's "Baby Love" was just released. Snoozefest.... except for the fact that it takesplace in GREECE (i am 95% positive). Just look at that gorgeous scenery. Hmmm I love it.

peace

Well I guess I'm on my way to a full recovery. As you might have heard, Br*tney at the VMA's left me in such a state of shock that I haven't been able to listen to music or surf the internet since. But I'm back. Feel free to send flowers or chocolates but here's a new song for ya. Sucky one too:

Apparently "Whatever U Like" flopped in the U.S. - this is just so weird... the song is so hot, she is so great and I don't know what is wrong. States can't handle the name "Scherzinger"? Like, wtf. Anyway, "Baby Love" aka suckysongofthecentch is being released as the official FIRST SINGLE from Nicole's debut album. And I've lost faith. Here it is.

Who would have thought?

Marie, Dhani, Amit and Sara from our favorite pop ensemble, the A*Teens, have all put forth solo material. Marie's was devastatingly flat (she was everyone's fave), Dhani's was understandably lame, Amit pulled a Mandy and got emo on us, but Sara Lumholdt (now Sara Love) went into the studio for at least a year more than all of her pop peers. The result? The least captivating A*Teen releases the hottest track. What the hell? WE LOVE IT. Glamour Bitch it is. Sounds like something we would write, gosh.

8/10 for Anthem Material. So mindless, and so good.

snoozefest

Well I don't think anyone thought she was going to be releasing club bangers, so I guess its okay for what it is. What it is is just boring though; "Tattoo" is the first single from Jordin Sparks' (American Idol's most recent winner) upcoming album. Thoughts?

wah

You all know how much I love Britney, but the pic above best captures my feelings while listening to this exclusive new track. This is clearly a demo. No record label would let the Britster ever release anything like this. Its cool to hear her sing, but I miss the inner chipmunk; we'll get that soon I'm sure.

mediocri-donna

The new track "The Beat Goes On" from Madonna's highly anticipated upcoming album has just leaked in HQ. The track was produced by Pharrell and features him throughout. Some may think it daring and bold but I think it's the same old semi-catchy/irritating. Looking forward to hearing the Timba/JTimbz tracks.

so close so far

Two new tracks have leaked from Nicole Scherzinger's upcoming album, "Her Name Is Nicole" due for release October 16th. Super Villain grew on me a tad, but its just an uptempo track where the lyrics really don't match the tune or the beat. Maybe that's the appeal? Either way it ends up sounding like a Christmas Jingle about Bad Boys. Baby Love, however, is without a doubt TERRIBLE. What the eff? Rumor is this is her second single. That Stickwitchu bullshit was better than this. Nobody likes a Pussycat Doll for generic midtempo R&B tracks, cmon!

DON'T LISTEN TO PEREZ

This is the brand spankin' new video for "Whatever You Like" by Nicole Scherzinger. We have been fans since day one and that means Eden's Crush, baby. Okay so people hate on the song calling it "generic"; it is anything but, it hardly has a chorus. It revolves around a sick beat and some hot synths. Granted the first minute of this video is kind of weird, but I blame the director. After that, it is solid gold. Shakira would do this kind of a video if she could pull it off. But only Nicole can. Raw. Fresh. Sexy. You go girl.

HILARIOUS. watching mandy sing it is even better.

My favorite part is the tacky greenscreening of the Rihanna video in the background. somehow they're able to sync it up with Mandy's singing even though the beats are def different; but its hilarious cuz you know Mandy is PISSED ABOUT THAT. she probably wants some old lady playing guitar or the harmonica as her backdrop, not a bootyshakin starlett.

what a skeeze

One of our faves. We've been with Mandy from the start and that's why this is kind of infuriating. So she covered "Umbrella" for some live session, and we like it, its cute - it gets especially Mandy-ish at 2:37 - you'll see what I mean. She's got pipes and style and it pisses us off that she had to preface it by saying "I'm not usually a listener of Top 40 music, but the melody of this song is undeniable." It's like, hi, slut, who are we kidding you MADE IT on Top 40 and as much as you are trying to disassociate yourself from it (by refunding fans for your first two albums - did you hear about that? what?!? crazy) it is also alienating the few fans you already had. Cmon. The melody of CRY is undeniable so F U. Love you Mandy.

SEXY

Yeah we know Collie Buddz. #1 Reggae Album in the nation. Sure, this breaking artist's first CD features the standard dancehall reggae that sounds like everrrryyything you've ever heard. But the bulk of the album is some pretty good ish. We're leaving you our favorite track from the album, "Tomorrow's Another Day", a mellow but sexy track that we are blasting - plus a link to buy more if you like what you hear! (Recommended: Blind To You, Come Around)

For Jimmy + other Tweenage Girlz

hot. damn.

We love Kat DeLuna. Just gave a listen to her debut album, 9 LIVES, and it is hot for sure. I want to encourage you all to buy it! So I'm going to post my favorite song from the album, "In The End," which after one listen is already an instant classic pop song... so good, so serious, and so melodic. With the vocals of Shakira/X-Tina but the energy of Britney, this girl is gonna be around. Her smash single "Whine Up" is the most generic song on the album. As expected with any emerging artist, the instruments are pretty similar and songs all capitalize on that "Whine Up" sound but they get way better. Buy this shit.

CASSIE COMPLEX

Here's a brand new scan from Cassie's photoshoot with "COMPLEX" magazine. I hate to say it but we are pretty intrigued by Cassie. Follow up to all the drama? She talks about the rumors in the new interview:

What’s the most hurtful thing that was said?
That I slept my way into the industry. I think that’s really vicious. If it had nothing to do with talent, at least it had something to do with charm. But it was never jumping into bed with somebody. That’s just gross. As far as people saying I couldn’t sing, I did a bad job so I couldn’t hate. I was in a tough place for a second. I got really sick and was in the hospital in like November or December. It was stress and exhaustion, and I ended up going home to Connecticut. [Puffy] actually called me up when I was at home and asked me what I wanted to do. I was like, “I want to do another album.”

I bet Cassie is really charming. Between the sheets.

New Singles 8.10.2007

It's been a really slow week in music but finally we got some new info and tracks. Here are four fresh new upcoming singles.

The lead single from BSB's new album! I am not a BSB fan, but ya know, I live in the nineties so woohooo. I like it, its very "Never Gone" sounding, but we'll deal. The new album drops October 30th.

Jennifer Lopez - Do It Well

You've probably heard by now that J. Lo is releasing two singles simultaneously; "Hold It Don't Drop It", which we leaked earlier and which has unfortunately failed to get stuck in my head... and "Do It Well." Do It Well is MUCH better, we think. We can't totally tell if we love it, but we like it more than the horns.

Carrie Underwood - So Small

For all you country sluts, the lead single for Carrie's newest CD has just leaked. It's very eh. Like is this a followup to "Before He Cheats"? COME ON HOMESLICE.

Kelly Rowland - Comeback

This track was done by Scott Storch, my idol. It's clearly a reject from the Brooke Hogan album, or some shit like that because it has a hot beat but it is soooo sub Scott Storch standards. It's the second single from Kelly's album "Ms. Kelly". Poor girl just went on record saying this about her weak album sales:
"Yes, I came in at No. 6 and sold 86,000 records — in a declining market, might I add. I’m very proud of that. Not everybody’s selling records like they used to. Even the biggest artists don’t come out and go platinum in a week anymore. It’s a different day and age in the music industry. There’s no easy way to get what’s worth working and waiting for, so whenever I get thrown a curveball, I know it’s just a challenge. You just have to keep going."

Kinda sucks for her. She unfortunately just can't compare with Beyonce's energy. But she tries, she tries really hard.

And retardface of the YEAR decides to release this track "Hate That I Love You," which is essentially a FILLER TRACK on the album and DOESN't STAND OUT AT ALL as her third and FINAL single. What?!? Final?! What the hell, that album has like 5 amazing singles on it... she needs some new people and maybe a new person could assume the name Rihanna and we could finally be rid of her. Word is getting around the industry that RiRi is the worst performer since Avril. Honestly, someone needs to stand up for Breakin Dishes. It has "TOXIC" like potential and will be unheard if ya dont DO something. "Good Girl Gone Bad" didn't sell well but neither did "L.A.M.B." until "Hollaback Girl" (3rd Single) came out. Ugh. I'm rambling. This is bullshit.

LOW BUDGET; HIGH REWARDS

Kate Nash - Doin' awesome in the UK right now. Never would listen to the song, but the video makes me love it. Real tight.

AIRBRUSH.com

Finally! A one hit wonder with some personality! We love Kat's debut single "Whine Up" and we could tell it was going to be a summer jam from the first listen. This on the other hand, defies genre and defies everything that her first song is about. She's pulling an X-Tina too fast and trying to show off her voice - check the video below... first 30 seconds are gagtastic. This single is just not IT. It's the confirmed second single from her upcoming album 9 Lives. I was hoping for something bigger. Second Single Slow Songs are deadly.
Well she can sing and she actually looks like she's having FUN in her video. Take some notes, Rihanna.

LL COOL J: LEATHER DADDY

No but SERIOUSLY. Who looks like that----> and ISN'T a gay? Those are vanity abs and you know someone is j/o in the mirror. A Hot Mess Blog is reporting that LL has been seen out with a guy who is a "known homosexual" in the music industry far too often. LL has a token gay! Since we have a high investment in LL's being a gay, we were pretty interested and did some investigating. In an interview with Al Weisel of Rolling Stone in 1996, LL responds to a question regarding his use of the term "faggot" on his records. His response?

"I use the word nigga, too. If I can say nigga on an album, and I'm an African-American, I can say faggot." - LL COOL J

That's some precious logic there, LL. If LL were a gay, he would be a leather daddy.

Looking back on it, this is the gayest shit eva:

MAROON 5

Brand New Maroon 5 Video for "Wake Up Call"

SKANKYPANTS

Christina Aguilera - Slow Down Baby

Above: Christina Aguilera does her best "Britney Impression". Cute. We've been on and off haters of X-TINA the Anti-Christ in the past. Today we think the lesson X-Tina needs to learn is consistency. Her transformation from "scuzzy ho" to "classy" is as believeable as Avril's sellout from angsty rocker chick to choreographed pop princess. In other words, Christina, you a ho. Her fourth single from "Back to Basics" is "Slow Down Baby", a song we have no opinion of. We should blame whoever died and allowed Christina Aguilera to have some creative power over her "artistry." Christina's got pipes, but she's got to get her boy Scott Storch back on her good side so that they can team up for another Stripped.

Let's Review:
Billboard Peaks

BACK TO BASICS
Ain't No Other Man - #6
Hurt - #19
Candyman #25

STRIPPED
Beautiful - # 2
Can't Hold Us Down - #12
Fighter - #20
The Voice Within - #33
Dirrty - #48

Let's be real. Stripped delivered 5 classic singles. Back 2 Basics blows. Next time X-Tina should try going back to her "real" basics. See image at right.

BOUNCE BACK

Credit: Kevipod Music

Not sure if you're up on the Cassie controversy. Or if you even know who she is; remember my summer jam from last year "Me & U"? That's Cassie. Her album bombed, and she quickly fell off the face of the earth. She performed an embarassingly off-key lipsynching (i know, I didn't know it was possible either) on BET without moving an inch or working the crowd. Eek. Well anyway, after that there was some outcry, and Diddy released a video saying he was going to keep Cassie up to "Bad Boy" standards. So - sucky like Danity Kane. Well anyway, I love her new song after one listen - very chill, very mellow, has the happy melody of "Umbrella" but the sexy groove of a electro track.

Check the vids below:
Cassie on BET - Jesus it's bad. Watch it ALL

Diddy w/ Cassie. I feel so bad for Cassie. But can't there be a girl who is gorgeous who can move or sing too? That's not asking much.

SEXY SOUNDS

To the lovers: here are some tracks to get your groove on. Sexy.

:(

Is there really any difference?

I hate it.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that Brit released these photos as a ploy to make people "think" that she is going to have a sucky video where she teeters between the edge of milfa (mother id like to forget about) and skankyfuckjob, and then is going to release an ACTUAL video that is good. I'm onto your games Britney!
I'd almost rather see preggers Britney writhing up on that pole and playing to the camera. Oh wait that disaster happened in 2005, my b.

THE ALBUM THAT KEEPS GIVING

Beyonce - Get Me Bodied (Radio Edit)

The Album That Keeps Giving. Giving shitty-ass singles. Seriously - B'Day came out September 4th 2007 - in a measly 10 months Beyonce has managed to release the lackluster "Deja Vu", the irritating "Ring The Alarm", the decent but overrated "Irreplaceable", a HIGHLY disappointing duet with my baby girl, Shakira, a ridiculous movie, and now this piece of sh*t. Are you serious B? She recorded B'Day in 2 WEEKS. 3 SONGS A DAY. How single-worthy could these babies be?

REINVENTION

Okay, so we're a little late on this one; but who listens to Good Charlotte? We didn't see this on any blogs or countdowns, we just stumbled on it. This is an anthem, for sure, and we're glad that the boys have learned from two album flops post Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous, and are ready to make some seriously groovy music. We love it.

We'll leave you with the video. Nothing special, but Nicole's baby's daddy is wearing a blazer!

REMIXES WE ARE BLASTING

POP PERFECTION

September - In Orbit (Full Album)

September brings tight Swedish-pop to a new level. This album includes the hits "Cry For You" and "Satellite". If you haven't already heard her, download it right now - her fanbase is rapidly increasing, her songs are climbing the charts, and the tunes get stuck in your head on the first listen. Enjoy.

J TO THE LO

Here is the highly anticipated debut single, "Hold It Don't Drop It" from Jennifer Lopez's 7th album. I'm digging the sound, weak verse but the chorus makes up for it. Horn-driven ala Amerie's "Gotta Work". Very fresh, very clean, produced by Midi Mafia. Each J. Lo album has gotten progressively lamer, so let's hope she delivers an "On The 6" rather than a "Rebirth" this time around.

Album History:
On The 6 - 1999.
If You Had My Love, Waiting For Tonight, Let's Get Loud, Feelin' So Good
Hot latin sounds fused with electronic dance making for a modern sexy sound that launched Jennifer's music career.
J. Lo - 2001
Love Don't Cost a Thing, I'm Real, Ain't It Funny, Play
This was the J. Lo era. Peak.
J to the L-O: The Remixes - 2002
I'm Real (Murda Inc Remix), Ain't It Funny (Murda Inc Remix), I'm Gonna Be Alright (Nas Remix)
This Is Me Then - 2002
Jenny From The Block, I'm Glad. Prize for most retarded name for an album, ever.
Rebirth - 2005
Get Right. What a tragedy in music.
Como Ama una Mujer - 2007
Que Hiciste, Me Haces Falta. Things are getting back on track

Flashback - 6 Years Ago - Love Don't Cost A Thing
